Monday Feature // Maren Anderson

Oh how I would do anything to have Maren come live with me and be my own personal chef. Maren Anderson (sixteen) started a food instagram to share her cooking and baking with people, and has so far gained a fan base of 11,000+ people. Recently she has also started up a Youtube channel, posting how-to videos for recipes such as overnight oats and some healthy pancakes. Maren is passionate about helping people in their journey to living a healthy lifestyle and encourages people to eat food that is flavorsome but also good for you, and of course having a balanced diet which means indulging sometimes on some Ben and Jerry's. I may or may not be guilty of spending large amounts of my time scrolling through her photos basically drooling, but to justify this girl has got some serious culinary talent.
It was only fitting that I would feature/interview Maren, someone who I think has a very bright future in whatever path she chooses to take, as my first ever Monday Feature. 

As a kid, were you always interesting in cooking and baking?

Yes! I had my own restaurant called The Peppery Cat haha.

What made you want to start your instagram account and share your recipes with people?

I used to post my food pictures on my main account @mynameismaren but people got really annoyed with all the pictures so someone suggested that I make a food account so I did! And I'm really glad I decided to.

Aside from making amazing food, what are your other interests?

I love making YouTube videos, hanging out with my friends, eating ice cream and sleeping haha.

What is your favorite meal/food to eat, and what is your favorite dish to make?

Sweet potato with peanut butter, quinoa, and a green smoothie- it's perfect. It has everything you neeeeed it's great!

As the school term is approaching for us Southern hemisphere kids, what would be your top picks for before school breakfasts and school snacks/lunches?

I am a firm believer in overnight oats for school mornings because I'm so lazy in the morning and I can just grab it out of the fridge! For snacks I have lärabars and green smoothies(: I like making turkey sandwiches with Ezekiel bread and hummus and spinach.

What are your plans for the future? What can we expect from you this time next year?

Hmm my plans for the future? Gosh I don't know! I hope to help people on their health journeys and continue to interact with all my followers as much as possible. I love food photography and videography so I want to do something around that area as well as cooking classes possibly! Next year around this time I hope that my YouTube page will have grown a lot, as well as my instagram!
