Every time the holidays come round I'm excited for all the things I'm going to do and how much I'm going to get done and how many people I'll get round to seeing but in reality I end up watching a couple dozen box sets and see the screen of my laptop more than the outside world. But that has come to an end! I have been lazing on the couch with illness for weeks now and I'm ready to do things that make me happy and make these holidays memorable.
So, I thought, why not make some things official? I mean, what's more official than posting it on the internet? It's like a deal you can't get out of because a bunch of strangers know your plans and they're all probably expecting instagram proof. But on a serious note, these last few weeks have been some of the most stressful of my life, endless doctors appointments and just the stress on my family, so even though I've been at home all term, these holidays are well needed.
Here is my list of definite must do's for these holidays
1.The Great Gatsby
I mean, Leo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby? Could it get any better?
2. La Cigale French Markets
French food is my weakness, I love the French culture and cuisine so this is a must do.
3. Fact-tree cafe
The instagram pictures are just everywhere, as a cafe hopper I must go see what all the fuss is about.
4. Bolero Tapas bar & restaurant
My brother says he hates Spanish food ever since a bad experience at a bad restaurant, so it is now my mission to make him love Spanish just like I do.
5. Swan lake performed by the Royal New Zealand ballet
I've always wanted to go see a ballet, as a young gymnast we incorporated some ballet techniques in our training and routines so I've always had a fascination for the dance.
6. Gow Langsford Gallery
Any chance to go to a gallery and I'm there.
7. NZ international film festival
Just looking at some of Big Little City's top picks is getting me excited (http://www.biglittlecity.co.nz/article/our-picks-2013-nz-international-film-festival) - also slightly jumping up and down to see The Bling Ring
8. For the last week of the holidays- Fiji
Nope, don't think I'll get sick of that. The sun, the spa, the relaxation. I think that a trip like this is much needed, somewhere where you don't know anyone and where you can actually well and truly relax.
I hope you all seize the moment these holidays and make them memorable. Remember to do things that make you happy, and trust me, if you do I can assure that you will have a great holiday.
